Problem

(i) Starting from the fundamental expression for the magnetic field due to a current element, obtain an expression for the magnitude of the magnetic field at a point situated at a perpendicular distance rr from an infinitely long straight conductor carrying a steady current II. (ii) Draw the pattern of magnetic field lines produced by such a conductor and indicate clearly their directions. (iii) Using the expression obtained in part (i), evaluate the magnetic field at a distance of 2.5 cm2.5\,\text{cm} from a wire carrying a current of 10 A10\,\text{A}.
