Problem

Four identical point charges of +5.0 μC+5.0\,\mu\text{C} are fixed at the corners of a square of side 0.40 m0.40\,\text{m}. The region x>0x>0 (the right half of the square) is filled with a dielectric liquid of relative permittivity κ=2.0\kappa=2.0, while the region x<0x<0 remains vacuum. A +2.0 μC+2.0\,\mu\text{C} test charge is placed at the geometric center of the square. Assuming the interaction between the test charge and any corner charge is governed by the permittivity of the region in which that corner charge lies, calculate the magnitude of the net electrostatic force on the test charge.
