Problem

A balcony is 45 m45\,\text{m} above the ground. At the same instant, ball A is dropped from rest from the balcony, while ball B is projected vertically upward from ground level with a speed of 20 m/s20\,\text{m/s}. Take upward direction as positive and g=10 m/s2g = 10\,\text{m/s}^2. (a) Write the expressions for the displacement of each ball from the ground after any time t st\,\text{s}. (b) Determine the time after release when the two balls are at the same height. (c) Calculate that height above the ground. (d) Find the magnitude and direction of the velocity of each ball at the instant they cross.
