Problem
A resistor of 40 Ω, an inductor of 0.20 H and a capacitor of 50 µF are connected in series to a 110 V (rms) AC source.
(i) Calculate the average power consumed at a frequency of 50 Hz.
(ii) Calculate the average power consumed when the circuit is operated at its resonant frequency.
(iii) Comment briefly on the two values obtained.
