Problem

A cylindrical vessel contains two immiscible liquids. The upper layer is kerosene of density 800 kg m−3800\,\text{kg}\,\text{m}^{-3} with a thickness of 0.25 m0.25\,\text{m}. Beneath it is water of density 1000 kg m−31000\,\text{kg}\,\text{m}^{-3}. A pressure sensor placed somewhere in the water registers a pressure that exceeds atmospheric pressure by 3.74×104 Pa3.74\times10^{4}\,\text{Pa}. Calculate the depth of the sensor below the interface between the two liquids.
