Problem

A uniform tube of internal radius 0.80 cm is arranged as a siphon to drain a large aquarium into a floor-level bucket. The water surface in the aquarium is 0.75 m above the water surface in the bucket. The highest point of the tube is 0.20 m above the aquarium water surface. The water is initially at rest in both containers and fills the tube completely once flow begins. Neglect viscosity and assume steady flow. (a) Determine the speed of the water as it exits into the bucket. (b) Calculate the corresponding volumetric flow rate through the tube.
