Problem

A function gg is defined as g(x)={2x−1,x<1,∣x−1∣+k,1≤x<3,4x+m,x≥3,g(x)=\begin{cases} 2x-1, & x<1,\\ |x-1|+k, & 1\le x<3,\\ 4x+m, & x\ge 3, \end{cases} where kk and mm are real constants. (i) Determine the value of kk that ensures continuity of gg at x=1x=1. (ii) Using the value of kk obtained, find the value of mm that ensures continuity of gg at x=3x=3. (iii) With these constants, verify algebraically that gg is continuous for all real xx.
