Problem

An a.c. source delivers an angular frequency of ω=1.00×104 rad s−1\omega=1.00\times10^{4}\,\text{rad}\,\text{s}^{-1} to a laboratory test circuit. (a) The circuit designer wants the inductive reactance to be exactly 80 Ω80\,\Omega. Determine the inductance that should be selected. (b) For the same operating frequency, what capacitance should be chosen so that the capacitive reactance is also 80 Ω80\,\Omega? (c) Using your answers to (a) and (b), verify numerically that a series circuit containing both elements would be in electrical resonance at the given angular frequency.
