Problem

Three point masses mA=2 kgm_A=2\,\text{kg}, mB=3 kgm_B=3\,\text{kg} and mC=4 kgm_C=4\,\text{kg} are placed at the vertices A, B and C respectively of an equilateral triangle of side 0.40 m0.40\,\text{m}. (i) Draw a clear vector diagram showing the gravitational forces acting on mass mAm_A due to masses mBm_B and mCm_C. (ii) Calculate the magnitude and direction of the net gravitational force on the mass mAm_A. Express the direction as an angle with respect to side AB. (iii) Determine the magnitude of the gravitational field intensity at the centroid of the triangle due to all three masses together.
