(a) Define work and kinetic energy.
(b) State the work–energy theorem in words.
(c) A suitcase is pulled up an escalator that moves with uniform speed. The pulling force applied by a passenger is opposite to the direction of motion of the suitcase relative to the escalator step. Explain, with reason, whether the work done by the passenger on the suitcase is positive, negative or zero. Also state the effect this work has on the kinetic energy of the suitcase, if any.
