Problem

A solid disk of mass 0.50 kg0.50\,\text{kg} and radius 0.10 m0.10\,\text{m} is spinning about its central axis. A 0.20 kg0.20\,\text{kg} blob of clay sticks to the rim of the disk, after which the combined system rotates together at 8.0 rad/s8.0\,\text{rad/s}. Determine the magnitude of the angular momentum of the disk–clay system about the center of the disk immediately after the clay sticks.
