Problem

Oil of density 850 kg m−3850\,\text{kg}\,\text{m}^{-3} flows steadily through a pipeline. At section 1 (ground level) the pipe area is 6.0×10−4 m26.0\times10^{-4}\,\text{m}^2, the gauge pressure is 1.5×105 Pa1.5\times10^{5}\,\text{Pa} and the speed is 3.0 m s−13.0\,\text{m}\,\text{s}^{-1}. The pipe then rises to section 2 which is 2.0 m2.0\,\text{m} higher and has an area of 3.0×10−4 m23.0\times10^{-4}\,\text{m}^2. Calculate the gauge pressure at section 2.
