Problem

In an experiment, every temperature reading is systematically 3 °C higher than the actual temperature. If students extrapolate a pressure–temperature graph using these faulty readings, how will the extrapolated value of absolute zero in Celsius compare with the true value? (a) It will be about 1 % higher, roughly 2.7∘C2.7^{\circ}\text C less negative than the true value. (b) It will be 3 °C lower (more negative) than the true value. (c) It will be 3 °C higher (less negative) than the true value. (d) It will be unaffected because the error is the same for all points.
