Problem

Consider the vectors a=⟨k,1,2⟩\mathbf{a}=\langle k,1,2\rangle and b=⟨3,k,−1⟩\mathbf{b}=\langle 3,k,-1\rangle. (i) Find the value(s) of kk for which the angle between a\mathbf{a} and b\mathbf{b} is 90∘90^\circ. (ii) For the value of kk obtained in (i), determine the angle (to the nearest degree) between a+b\mathbf{a}+\mathbf{b} and a−b\mathbf{a}-\mathbf{b}.
