Problem

For vectors u\mathbf{u} and v\mathbf{v} it is known that u⋅v=15\mathbf{u}\cdot\mathbf{v}=15 and ∣u∣=5|\mathbf{u}|=5. The angle between them is 45∘45^{\circ}. (i) Find the magnitude ∣v∣|\mathbf{v}|. (ii) If the angle between u\mathbf{u} and v\mathbf{v} were 135∘135^{\circ} instead of 45∘45^{\circ} while the magnitudes remained the same, what would be the new value of u⋅v\mathbf{u}\cdot\mathbf{v}? (iii) Explain why the sign of the dot product changes when the angle is altered from 45∘45^{\circ} to 135∘135^{\circ}.
