Problem

A model car is tested on two circular tracks of different radii but is programmed to take the same time for one revolution on each track. Track 1 has a radius of 0.80 m0.80\,\text{m} and Track 2 has a radius of 1.20 m1.20\,\text{m}. The period of revolution on both tracks is kept at 10 s10\,\text{s}. (i) Calculate the speed of the car on each track. (ii) Find the ratio of the speed on Track 2 to that on Track 1. (iii) If the period is suddenly reduced to 5 s5\,\text{s} on Track 1 while the radius remains unchanged, determine the new speed of the car and state by what factor the speed has changed compared with its original value on Track 1.
