Problem

A conducting rod 0.50 m long slides without friction on horizontal conducting rails that are connected to a 3.0 Ω resistor, forming a closed rectangular circuit. The entire arrangement is in a uniform vertical magnetic field of magnitude 0.80 T. A constant horizontal force of 1.2 N pushes the rod to the right. Determine the terminal speed attained by the rod when the mechanical power supplied by the force equals the electrical power dissipated in the resistor.
