Problem

A car is moving with an initial velocity of 10 m/s along a straight road. It accelerates uniformly at 2 m/s² for 5 s. (i) Draw a velocity–time graph for the motion and mark the initial and final velocities as well as the time interval. (ii) Using only the graph, determine the final velocity reached at t = 5 s. (iii) Calculate the distance travelled in these 5 s by finding the area under the graph. (iv) Verify the distance obtained in part (iii) by using a suitable equation of motion and compare the two results.
