Problem

A sealed container of volume 0.35 m30.35\ \text{m}^3 holds 1.6 mol1.6\ \text{mol} of a monoatomic gas that can be treated as ideal. The temperature of the gas is 320 K320\ \text{K}. One mole of the gas has a mass of 4.0×10−2 kg4.0 \times 10^{-2}\ \text{kg}. (1) Calculate the pressure of the gas in the container. (2) Determine the mass of the gas in the container. (3) Calculate the average translational speed of the gas particles. (4) The temperature of the gas in the container is increased. Explain, using the kinetic theory, how this change leads to a change in pressure in the container.
