Problem

A lighted candle is placed 15 cm15\,\text{cm} in front of a concave mirror fixed on a stand. The mirror is then moved 5 cm5\,\text{cm} towards the candle along the principal axis. As a result, the image of the candle is observed to shift 10 cm10\,\text{cm} away from the mirror. (i) For the initial and the final positions of the mirror, write the algebraic relations connecting focal length, object distance and image distance, taking proper signs. (ii) Using the two relations obtained in part (i), calculate the focal length of the concave mirror. (iii) For the initial arrangement, state the nature, orientation and approximate position of the image formed with respect to the mirror.
