Problem

A series LCR selector circuit is required to have a resonant frequency of 1.0 MHz and a bandwidth of 10 kHz when used with a resistor of 5 Ω. (i) Determine the quality factor Q of the circuit under these requirements. (ii) Using the value of Q found in (i), calculate the inductance necessary to meet the specification. (iii) Compute the corresponding capacitance that must be paired with the inductance obtained in (ii) so that the circuit resonates at 1.0 MHz. (iv) If the actual inductance can vary by ±5 %, estimate the resulting percentage variation in the resonant frequency, keeping the capacitance unchanged.
