Problem

Two equal, narrow holes are opened simultaneously on the vertical face of a tank full of water. One hole is 0.60 m0.60\,\text{m} below the free surface and the other is 1.80 m1.80\,\text{m} below the same surface. The free surface is maintained at a constant level and the ground is 2.2 m2.2\,\text{m} below the free surface. (a) Find the ratio of the speeds with which water emerges from the two holes. (b) Determine the ratio of their volume flow rates. (c) Calculate the horizontal distances from the tank at which the two water streams strike the ground.
