Problem
Two identical electric lamps, a room-heater and a television set are to be installed in a new room.
(i) Distinguish between series and parallel connections of appliances by stating any two differences in their electrical behaviour.
(ii) Explain three advantages of connecting all household appliances in parallel instead of in series.
(iii) Suppose the 60 W lamp and the 600 W room-heater are accidentally connected in series to the 220 V mains. Predict qualitatively how the brightness of the lamp and the heating of the heater would be affected, giving reasons.
