Problem

A car is moving along a straight highway. It increases its speed uniformly from 10 m/s10\,\text{m/s} to 30 m/s30\,\text{m/s} in 5 s5\,\text{s}. (a) Sketch a rough velocity–time graph for the motion, taking the initial instant as t=0t = 0. (b) Using the graph, calculate the magnitude of the acceleration produced in the car. (c) Find the displacement covered during these 5 s5\,\text{s} by determining the area under the graph. (d) Verify whether the numerical values obtained in parts (b) and (c) satisfy the relation v=u+atv = u + at.
