Problem

Two mutually perpendicular, infinitely long, straight conductors intersect at point O. Conductor X lies along the xx-axis and carries a current of 4 A4\,\text{A} in the +x+x direction. Conductor Y lies along the yy-axis and carries a current of 6 A6\,\text{A} in the +y+y direction. A point P is located in the first quadrant at coordinates (8 cm, 6 cm)(8\,\text{cm},\,6\,\text{cm}) with respect to O. (i) Calculate the magnitude of the magnetic field at P produced by conductor X alone. (ii) Calculate the magnitude of the magnetic field at P produced by conductor Y alone. (iii) Determine the magnitude and direction of the net magnetic field at P due to both conductors.
