Problem

A constant horizontal force of 10 N10\,\text{N} acts separately on two balls, A and B, each starting from rest on a smooth horizontal table. The force acts through a displacement of 5 m5\,\text{m} on both balls. The mass of ball A is 1 kg1\,\text{kg} and that of ball B is 4 kg4\,\text{kg}. (i) Find the work done on each ball by the applied force. (ii) Calculate the final speed of each ball after the 5 m5\,\text{m} displacement. (iii) Which ball gains more kinetic energy? Give a reason for your answer based on your calculations.
