Problem

A circular conducting ring is placed coaxially around the top end of a long solenoid. The current in the solenoid is clockwise when viewed from above. (i) It is increased steadily from zero to a certain value, and (ii) later decreased steadily back to zero. As seen from above, the directions of the induced currents I1I_1 and I2I_2 in the ring during intervals (i) and (ii) respectively are (a) clockwise, anticlockwise\text{clockwise},\ \text{anticlockwise} (b) anticlockwise, clockwise\text{anticlockwise},\ \text{clockwise} (c) clockwise, clockwise\text{clockwise},\ \text{clockwise} (d) anticlockwise, anticlockwise\text{anticlockwise},\ \text{anticlockwise}
