Problem

Two identical rubber balls, P and Q, are projected vertically upward from the same point one after the other. Ball P is thrown with an initial speed of 8 m/s8\,\text{m/s} while ball Q is thrown with an initial speed of 12 m/s12\,\text{m/s}. Assume g=10 m/s2g = 10\,\text{m/s}^2. (i) Calculate the maximum height reached by each ball above the point of projection. (ii) Find the ratio of the maximum heights HQ:HPH_Q : H_P reached by balls Q and P. (iii) Determine the ratio of the times taken to reach their respective highest points tQ:tPt_Q : t_P.
