A household wants its monthly electricity bill not to exceed Rs 1 800. The tariff is Rs 6.00 per kWh. The existing appliances are:
• Refrigerator: 150 W, runs 24 h daily
• General lighting and other load: 400 W, used 10 h daily
The family wishes to install an air-conditioner that will be used 4 h daily. Determine the maximum power rating (in kW) the air-conditioner can have so that the monthly bill remains within the limit.
