Problem

Three resistors having resistances 2 Ω, 4 Ω and 6 Ω are connected in parallel across a 24 V power supply. (i) Find the equivalent resistance of the network. (ii) Calculate the total electrical power consumed by the network. (iii) Compute the power dissipated in each individual resistor and hence identify which resistor branch dissipates the greatest power. (iv) Show that the sum of the powers obtained in part (iii) equals the total power calculated in part (ii).
