Problem

A car moves in a straight line in three successive 4 s4\,\text{s} intervals. During the first interval it has constant acceleration 3 m s−23\,\text{m}\,\text{s}^{-2}. During the second interval it moves with constant velocity. During the third interval it has constant acceleration −2 m s−2-2\,\text{m}\,\text{s}^{-2}. The car starts from rest at the beginning of the first interval. (i) Find the velocity of the car at the end of 12 s12\,\text{s}. (ii) Calculate the total displacement covered in the 12 s12\,\text{s}.
