Problem

A particle of mass 1.0 kg1.0\,\text{kg} is acted upon simultaneously by three constant forces: F1=5 N\mathbf{F}_1 = 5\,\text{N} east, F2=4 N\mathbf{F}_2 = 4\,\text{N} north, and F3=−5 N\mathbf{F}_3 = -5\,\text{N} east. Starting from rest, the particle moves 6 m6\,\text{m} due east. (a) Compute the work done by each force separately. (b) Show that the algebraic sum of these works equals the change in kinetic energy of the particle. (c) Identify which of the three forces do not contribute to ΔK\Delta K and state why.
