Problem

An electromagnetic actuator must produce a force of at least 1.5 N1.5\,\text{N}. The available magnetic field in the device cannot exceed 0.40 T0.40\,\text{T}. The conductor will be kept perpendicular to the field. (a) If the current is limited to 10 A10\,\text{A}, determine the minimum length of conductor that must lie within the magnetic field. (b) The design allows only 30 cm30\,\text{cm} of straight conductor to be placed in the field. State, with reason, whether the required force can be achieved under the given limits.
