Problem

A household adaptor uses a transformer whose primary is designed for a 120 V, 60 Hz supply and whose secondary is rated at 12 V, 6.0 A. When the adaptor operates at full-load, the efficiency of the transformer is 80 %. (i) Calculate the power actually delivered to the load. (ii) Determine the rms current drawn from the 120 V mains. (iii) Compute the total power loss in the transformer at full-load. (iv) If the copper loss accounts for 60 % of the total loss, find the copper loss in watts.
