Problem

You are provided with a smooth wooden board, a trolley, a stopwatch, a metre scale and a set of chalks. Describe, in not more than 250 words, how you would perform an experiment to obtain an example of uniform acceleration and an example of non-uniform acceleration using this apparatus. Your description should include: (a) The arrangement of the apparatus for each case. (b) The observations you would record, showing how you would obtain velocity–time data. (c) The calculation or reasoning you would use to decide whether the acceleration is uniform or non-uniform in each case. (d) One precaution for each set-up to ensure reliable results.
