Problem

The curve CC is given by x=kt+1x=kt+1 and y=t2−3ty=t^{2}-3t, where kk is a real constant. (i) The tangent to CC at the point corresponding to t=2t=2 passes through the fixed point (5,−2)(5,-2). Determine the value of kk. (ii) Using the value of kk found in part (i), obtain the equation of the tangent to CC at t=2t=2. (iii) Express the equation from part (ii) in slope–intercept form y=mx+cy=mx+c and state the slope of the tangent explicitly.
