Problem

Let a=2i−3j+k\mathbf{a}=2\mathbf{i}-3\mathbf{j}+\mathbf{k}, b=−i+4j+2k\mathbf{b}=-\mathbf{i}+4\mathbf{j}+2\mathbf{k} and c=3i+j−2k\mathbf{c}=3\mathbf{i}+\mathbf{j}-2\mathbf{k}. (i) Find the scalar projection of the vector a+c\mathbf{a}+\mathbf{c} on b\mathbf{b}. (ii) Determine the vector component of a+c\mathbf{a}+\mathbf{c} along b\mathbf{b}.
