Problem

The vertices of a triangle are A(1,1)A(1,1), B(4,2)B(4,2) and C(2,5)C(2,5). (i) Calculate the area of △ABC\triangle ABC. (ii) Each point (x,y)(x,y) of the plane is mapped to (3x,3y)(3x,3y). Write the coordinates of the images A′,B′,C′A',B',C' of the given vertices. (iii) Find the area of △A′B′C′\triangle A'B'C'. Hence state the ratio of the new area to the original area.
