Problem

During four successive one-second intervals, a toy car moving in a straight line covers 2 m2\,\text{m}, 6 m6\,\text{m}, 10 m10\,\text{m} and 14 m14\,\text{m} respectively. The car starts counting time from t=0t=0 at the beginning of the first interval. Using this information, answer the following: (i) Prepare a table showing the cumulative distance travelled at the end of each second. (ii) Draw a distance–time graph for the motion for the first 4 s4\,\text{s}. (iii) From your data, estimate the average speed during each one-second interval and plot an approximate velocity–time graph for the 4 s4\,\text{s}. (iv) State, with reasons based on your graphs, whether the toy car is moving with uniform acceleration.
