Problem

A body of mass 2.0 kg2.0\,\text{kg} slides on a smooth horizontal surface along the +x+x direction. The horizontal force acting on it varies with position according to F(x)=4x  NF(x)=4x\;\text{N}, where xx is in metres. (a) Calculate the work done by the force as the body moves from x=0.50 mx=0.50\,\text{m} to x=2.00 mx=2.00\,\text{m}. (b) If the body starts from rest at x=0.50 mx=0.50\,\text{m}, determine its speed when it reaches x=2.00 mx=2.00\,\text{m}.
