Problem

Consider the relation F=k ptF = k\,\dfrac{p}{t}, where FF is the magnitude of force applied on a body, pp is the magnitude of its momentum and tt is the time interval in which the change occurs. Answer the following questions. (i) Using dimensional symbols [M][M], [L][L], and [T][T], write the dimensions of the right-hand side of the given relation. (ii) Hence obtain the dimensions of the constant kk appearing in the relation. (iii) If the experimentally accepted relation between force, momentum and time is F=ΔpΔtF = \dfrac{\Delta p}{\Delta t}, comment on the numerical value and unit of kk.
