Problem
A water tank consists of a cylinder of radius 1.2 m and length 3 m with two hemispherical ends attached. The tank is to be redesigned so that every linear dimension is increased by 25\% while maintaining the same shape.
(i) Calculate the original capacity (volume) of the tank.
(ii) Determine the new capacity after the enlargement and hence find the percentage increase in capacity.
(iii) Find the total surface area of both the original and the enlarged tank, ignoring the areas where the cylinder and hemispheres join internally.
(iv) If the cost of the metal sheet is Rs. 400 per square metre, calculate the additional cost of material required to manufacture the enlarged tank compared with the original.
