Problem

Two identical small insulating spheres, each of mass 5 g5\,\text{g}, carry equal positive charges of 0.40 μC0.40\,\mu\text{C}. They are suspended from a common point by two light threads of length 50 cm50\,\text{cm}. In equilibrium the centres of the spheres are 30 cm30\,\text{cm} apart. Neglecting the mass of the threads, the tension in each thread is closest to (a) 0.061 N0.061\,\text{N} (b) 0.049 N0.049\,\text{N} (c) 0.051 N0.051\,\text{N} (d) 0.016 N0.016\,\text{N}
