Problem

For a series LCRLCR circuit the values are L=200 mHL = 200\,\mathrm{mH}, C=50 nFC = 50\,\mathrm{nF} and R=10 ΩR = 10\,\Omega. A sinusoidal source of constant peak voltage is applied. (i) Calculate the resonant angular frequency ω0\omega_0. (ii) Determine the two angular frequencies ω1\omega_1 and ω2\omega_2 at which the current amplitude becomes 12\dfrac{1}{\sqrt{2}} of the maximum. (iii) Hence find the bandwidth Δω\Delta\omega. (iv) Compute the quality factor QQ of the circuit. (v) Comment, with reasons, on whether the resonance is sharp or broad for the given values.
