Problem

A straight line through the origin with positive slope mm meets the parabola y=x2y=x^{2} at two points, one of which is the origin and the other (m,m2)(m,m^{2}). The region PP is enclosed by the line y=mxy=mx, the parabola y=x2y=x^{2}, and the xx-axis between x=0x=0 and x=mx=m. If the area of PP equals 43\dfrac{4}{3} square units, (i) Obtain a single definite integral that represents the area of PP in terms of mm. (ii) Hence show that m3=8m^{3}=8 and determine the value of mm.
