Problem

A flywheel is initially rotating at 10 rad s−110\,\text{rad\,s}^{-1}. It is subjected to the following sequence of uniform angular accelerations: Stage A: +4 rad s−2+4\,\text{rad\,s}^{-2} for 3 s3\,\text{s}, Stage B: 0 rad s−20\,\text{rad\,s}^{-2} for 2 s2\,\text{s} (moves with constant speed), Stage C: −3 rad s−2-3\,\text{rad\,s}^{-2} until its angular speed falls to 2 rad s−12\,\text{rad\,s}^{-1}. (i) Find the time duration of Stage C. (ii) Calculate the total angular displacement of the flywheel during the complete motion described above. (iii) Compute the average angular acceleration for the entire motion from the beginning of Stage A to the end of Stage C.
