Problem

(a) Explain qualitatively how the magnetic field strength around a long straight current-carrying conductor is affected when the magnitude of current through it is doubled while the distance of the observation point from the conductor is kept unchanged. (b) Explain qualitatively how the magnetic field strength changes when the observation point is moved twice as far from the conductor while the current remains the same. (c) If both changes in parts (a) and (b) occur simultaneously (current doubled and distance doubled), state whether the magnetic field strength at the new point will be greater than, less than, or equal to the original value. Justify your answer.
