Problem

A 48 V48\,\text{V} d.c. source is connected to a resistor R0=4 ΩR_0 = 4\,\Omega in series with a parallel network consisting of three resistors R1=6 ΩR_1 = 6\,\Omega, R2=8 ΩR_2 = 8\,\Omega and R3=12 ΩR_3 = 12\,\Omega. (i) Compute the equivalent resistance of the parallel network alone. (ii) Determine the total equivalent resistance of the complete circuit seen by the source. (iii) Calculate the current supplied by the source. (iv) Find the current through each of the resistors R1,R2R_1, R_2 and R3R_3. (v) Evaluate the power dissipated in each resistor R0,R1,R2R_0, R_1, R_2 and R3R_3.
