Problem

Consider the polynomial function f(x)=x3−3kx2+9xf(x)=x^{3}-3kx^{2}+9x on the closed interval [0,3][0,3], where k∈Rk\in\mathbb{R}. (i) Obtain f′(x)f'(x). (ii) Derive the inequalities that kk must satisfy so that f′(x)≥0f'(x)\ge 0 for every x∈[0,3]x\in[0,3]. (iii) Hence find the complete range of kk for which ff is strictly increasing throughout [0,3][0,3].
