Problem
An aeroplane is flying horizontally at a constant height of 3 km. The angle of elevation of the plane observed from a point on the ground changes from 30° to 60° in 45 seconds as the plane approaches directly overhead.
(i) Find the horizontal distance of the plane from the point of observation when the angle of elevation is 30°.
(ii) Using the change in angle, calculate the average speed of the plane in km h⁻¹ during this 45-second interval.
